The Opportunity:
- Perform necessary engineering functions required for the project to include electrical power service and distribution, branch circuits, indoor and outdoor lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, telephone and data infrastructure wiring, audio/visual systems, and miscellaneous electrical and control systems to develop the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications).
- Advise clients regarding electrical systems and requirements available to meet their needs and comply with applicable codes.
- Perform lead functions in electrical project design, including directing tasks to Drafters/Designers and Apprentice Level Engineers to meet the requirements set forth by the Principal Engineer.
- Perform field inspections to verify existing site conditions and develop project requirements.
- Coordinate effectively with internal and external members of the design team.
- Solve complex problems with minimal oversight from a more experienced Engineer, in both the design and construction phases of a project.
- Provide guidance to the construction team to ensure implementation of the full design.
- Manage project activities related to electrical discipline, including reviewing and updating budgets, preparing and updating project schedules, and establishing project communications, standards, and files.
Requirements:
The Required Capabilities and Credentials:
- B.S.E.E. from an accredited university or equivalent experience; Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering design experience, focusing on building power, lighting, and systems projects for commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities.
- Experience in equipment selection and troubleshooting systems.
- Knowledge of the electrical construction trade, NFPA (Fire Protection Association), and the Electric Code (NEC).
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Word).
- Experience with Bluebeam and industry-specific software such as SKM, Aspen, and EasyPower.
- Ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings.
