Job summary

ISH Dining Services is seeking a Cook for a healthcare setting to prepare and cook a wide variety of foods according to recipes and schedules. You will ensure sanitary preparation, follow menus/diet instructions, and work with staff to deliver high-quality meals to residents.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (or 2+ years in healthcare) and you must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED or at least two (2) years of experience in the healthcare field and/or related industry.
• Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment, and maintain compassion and dignity for residents.
• Must be able to work every other weekend, as well as holidays and as needed, to ensure proper staffing levels.

• Plan cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules and perform related duties.
• Direct other food service employees in the absence of the Food Service Director.

• Communicate freely with the Food Service Director and cooperate with staff.
• Ensure that residents receive the highest quality meals.
• Complete all assigned training and skills competency.

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods.


• He/she prepares food according to recipes and plans cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules. In addition, the Cook performs related duties and cleaning duties, as assigned.


• Directs other food service employees in the absence of the Food Service Director.


• Handles and prepares food in accordance with sanitary regulations;


• Prepares palatable and appetizing meals.


• Follows menus and special diet instructions;


• Communicates freely with the Food Service Director;


• Cooperates with other food service staff and facility personnel;


• Ensures that residents receive the highest quality meals.


• As a condition of employment, complete all assigned training and skills competency.


• Performs other duties as requested.
