Job summary

Mead & Hunt, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Construction Inspector for WVDOH projects in North Central West Virginia. The role involves performing field inspections on transportation construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and documenting daily progress.

The candidate will travel to sites across the state and may work extended hours with overnight stays. Ideal candidates hold WVDOH inspection and materials testing certifications, have knowledge of WVDOH

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field with four years of relevant experience or
• Associate's Degree in Construction Management or related field with six years of relevant experience or
• No degree with at least eight years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Provide inspection services for transportation construction projects.
• Ensure work and materials comply with proposal, plans, and specifications.
• Perform measurements, calculations, and prepare 'as-builts' during progress.
• Document inspected work daily and maintain records.
• Travel to construction sites across West Virginia; valid driver's license required.
• Extend hours and overnight stays may be required.

Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspector for WVDOH projects in North Central West Virginia.

An Experienced Construction Inspector will be responsible for providing inspection services for transportation construction projects. They ensure all work and materials used are in compliance with the proposal, plans, and specifications. They may perform required calculations, take measurements, and verify weights and volumes as needed. They may plot and run cross sections and prepare "as builds" during progress of the project. They may perform materials testing. They will document inspected work daily.

This position requires heavy lifting, working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis, and ability to perform work independently. Travel to construction sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver's license is required. Extended hours and overnight stays may be required.

The successful candidate will hold at least four applicable certifications, and one of the following:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related field AND four (4) years relevant experience

OR

• An Associate's Degree in Construction Management or related field AND six (6) years of relevant experience

OR

• If no degree, at least eight (8) years of relevant experience

Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:

• WVDOH construction inspection and materials testing certifications Working knowledge of WVDOH standards, specifications, and material testing procedures
• Working knowledge of AASHTOWare Project
