Estimator – Insurance Restoration & Remodeling
The Restoration House
The Restoration House is looking for an experienced, organized, and sales-minded Estimator to join our team.
This position plays a critical role in setting each project up for success. The Estimator is often the first person to evaluate the property, document the scope, communicate with the client, and provide the Production team with a clear roadmap for completing the work.
We are looking for someone who can accurately estimate both insurance restoration projects and custom or higher-end remodeling work.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect residential restoration and remodeling projects.
- Prepare accurate and detailed estimates using Xactimate.
- Write estimates for insurance repairs, remodels, upgrades, and additional client-requested work.
- Document site conditions, measurements, photographs, scope notes, and project details in Buildertrend.
- Create clear scope notes that allow Project Managers and Production staff to understand the project without having visited the property.
- Compare contractor and insurance estimates and prepare supplements when appropriate.
- Communicate with homeowners, adjusters, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members.
- Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier quotes for items such as flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and specialty work.
- Help clients finalize selections and clearly separate insurance repairs from upgrades or remodeling work.
- Present The Restoration House professionally and help turn qualified opportunities into signed projects.
- Follow established company systems, checklists, and estimating procedures.
- Maintain consistent follow-up on estimates, approvals, selections, revisions, and open tasks.
Ideal Candidate
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple active estimates and follow-up items.
- Skilled in Xactimate and familiar with insurance estimating and submission requirements.
- Experienced in residential construction, restoration, and remodeling.
- Able to recognize how construction methods, materials, sequencing, and site conditions affect cost.
- Comfortable preparing both insurance repair estimates and custom remodeling estimates.
- A strong communicator who can work effectively with clients, adjusters, subcontractors, Project Managers, and Production staff.
- A team player who understands the importance of a complete and accurate handoff.
- Detail-oriented and thorough with photographs, measurements, notes, and supporting documentation.
- Positive, professional, and solution-oriented.
- Low-drama and committed to maintaining a healthy company culture.
- Comfortable selling the company, explaining our value, addressing client concerns, and asking for the work.
- Able to follow established systems designed to reduce mistakes and improve communication.

Qualifications
- Professional experience using Xactimate.
- Working knowledge of insurance restoration estimating.
- Experience preparing residential remodeling estimates.
- Strong residential construction knowledge.
- General understanding of construction labor and material costs.Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using a construction CRM, preferably Buildertrend.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, revisions, and client communications.
- Strong interpersonal and sales skills.
