Experienced CNC Operator 1st Shift – Job Description

Position Summary: An experienced ANCA Operator is a skilled machinist responsible for setting up, programming, and operating ANCA CNC grinding machines to manufacture high‑precision cutting tools. This role ensures strict adherence to engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements while optimizing production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
  • Set up ANCA CNC grinding machines based on work orders and specifications.
  • Select appropriate grinding wheels, tooling, and machine parameters.
  • Load and secure cutting tool blanks accurately.
  • Perform machine changeovers and setup adjustments as required.
Programming
  • Develop and modify grinding programs using ANCA software.
  • Create tool profiles, grinding paths, and finishing operations.
  • Optimize programs for efficiency and precision.
Production Monitoring
  • Monitor machine performance during operations.
  • Adjust offsets, feeds, and speeds to maintain tolerances.
  • Ensure continuous production flow and efficiency.
Quality Control
  • Inspect finished tools for:
    • Dimensional accuracy.
    • Surface finish.
    • Conformance to specifications.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, comparators, etc.).
  • Conduct in‑process inspections and quality checks.
  • Identify defects and implement corrective actions.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot machine and process issues.
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and adjustments.
  • Diagnose production challenges and recommend solutions.
Technical Expertise
  • Apply advanced grinding techniques for complex tool geometries.
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
  • Stay current with ANCA software updates and process improvements.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience operating ANCA CNC grinding machines.
  • Strong understanding of CNC grinding principles.
  • Proficiency in ANCA programming software.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
