Job summary

ARCH Global Precision is seeking an entry‑level CNC Operator in our Walter Grinder department. You will learn setup and operation of Walter machines and support functions through guided training by tenured staff.

The role focuses on reading blueprints, adjusting offsets, inspecting parts, and maintaining equipment to meet quality and safety standards. On‑the‑job training is provided.

Qualifications

  • Read blueprints and job routers for product specifications.
  • Understand GD&T tolerancing and applicable inspection methods.
  • Follow safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Able to communicate effectively with team and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines such as Walter 5-Axis CNC Cutter Grinders and related equipment.
  • Manufacture and re‑grind solid carbide cutting tools.
  • Maintain equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, ensuring conformity to specs.
  • Adhere to company policies and quality systems requirements.

Job description

Summary

Produces complex cutting tools by setting up and operating CNC machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; and maintaining equipment. This entry level position in our Walter Grinder department includes on‑the‑job training. The selected individual will learn practical setup and operation of the Walter machines and supporting functions through guided training by a tenured staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read blueprint and/or job router for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and other instructions.
  • Adjust machine offsets and program information to maintain required quality output of machine.
  • Inspect products during the machining operation to determine if parts meet specifications, complying with established standards and methods for inspection, testing, evaluation, and calibration.
  • Observe operation of machine and verify conformance of machined workpiece to specifications.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and reporting need for machine repairs.
  • Set up and operate machines and equipment such as Walter 5‑Axis CNC Cutter Grinders, Rolllomatic NPS, and other necessary machinery.
  • Manufacture and re‑grind solid carbide special round cutting tools.
  • Understand and comply with company policy, safety guidelines, quality systems requirements and housekeeping standards.

Education and/or Experience
  • Equivalent to high school education or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May be required to have experience with material, product, or precision level, or with machine of size, type, or trade name.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
