Job summary

iWorkforce Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes and mills in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You will read blueprints, select tooling, and run first articles while ensuring part conformity to engineering specs.

Responsibilities include performing multiple machine setups per day, debugging programs, measuring with calipers and micrometers, and maintaining tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• 5+ years CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably as a lathe machinist.
• Experience operating CNC machines, preferably Mazak, Haas, or Okuma.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong quality mindset and accountability, including the ability to measure and document conforming and non-conforming parts.
• Ability to identify quality issues, troubleshoot problems, and explain why parts do not meet specifications.
• Experience performing machine setups, teardown, and changeovers independently.
• Ability to manage multiple setups throughout the workday.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining production standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely set up and operate CNC machining equipment, including CNC lathes and milling machines, as required.
• Perform machine setup changes and first-article inspections during production runs.
• Load parts using overhead lifting equipment as needed.
• Prove programs, operate machine controls, set offsets, and make basic program edits.
• Deburr and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
• Select and maintain appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, feed rates, cutting speeds, and depths of cut.
• Monitor machine operations, identify potential issues, and adjust controls or programs as necessary.
• Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns to prevent non-conforming parts from moving forward in production.
• Maintain accurate measurements and ensure quality standards are consistently met.
• Keep the work area clean and organized and perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Follow all applicable company health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
