Leonce Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist (CNC Setup Operator) to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes in a small-batch environment. You will prepare machines with correct attachments, input instructions from blueprints, and monitor operations to ensure parts meet specifications.

Candidates should have 5–10 years of experience on mills or lathes, GED or high school diploma (machine shop tech certificate preferred), and strong math, measurement, and inspection skills using micrometers,

  • Strong analytical and communication skills; proficient with math concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare CNC machines with correct attachments and parts per job.
  • Enter instructions into CNC equipment based on blueprints/plans.
  • Operate and monitor machines to ensure correct operation.
  • Identify and resolve issues with programming or operation.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure specifications are met.
  • Perform regular maintenance and inspections on equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and regulations.

A CNC Machinist, alsoknown as a CNC Setup Operator, works with computer-controlled machines likedrills, mills, lathes, and presses to manufacture parts. This role requires operatingCNC mills and lathes in a small batch repetitive manufacturing environment. Employeeswill be expected to operate a variety of makes and models of CNC mills andlathes.Machine operators are responsible for fit,finish, and cleaning of each part produced.

Must Have

  • Skills:Stronganalytical, communication, and computer skills. Understanding of mathematics,particularly trigonometry, geometry, and algebra
  • Read dimensions and tooling instructions fromwork orders and drawings
  • Perform machine set-up by ensuring properprograms, tooling and offsets are used
  • Load and unload raw material and parts, ensuringproper part alignment and positioning using part holding clamps, jaws, andchucks
  • Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctionor out-of-tolerance operations and adjust machine controls as required
  • Verify machine calibration and settings bymeasuring parts against drawings, using micrometers (ID and OD), dial calipers,and dial indicators
  • Produce consistent, quality parts withintolerances of ± .0005"
