Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is looking for a climbing arborist to join our outdoor care team in Mokena, IL. You’ll be part of a crew that prunes, removes, and maintains trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems, while prioritizing safety and quality service for our clients.

You’ll receive industry-leading training, eligibility for company benefits, and opportunities for advancement within an employee-owned organization focused on greenspace stewardship in communities across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Outdoor-loving candidate with interest in arboriculture.
• Preferred forestry, horticulture, landscaping background or heights work.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using Davey climbing systems (DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS).
• Operate as an active crew member with ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to: pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy; installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems; removal of hazardous trees; properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry.

Position Overview

Trim and remove trees, remove unwanted, diseased or dying limbs on trees, or to affect the health and safety of trees or surrounding areas by performing the following duties.

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
