Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Columbus, OH is seeking a dynamic Climbing Arborist to join our outdoors-focused team. You will trim and remove trees, assess health and safety, and work with a crew to deliver high-quality tree care services in various sites.

Applicants should have a love of the outdoors, willingness to climb, and the ability to manage equipment safely. On-site work with a leading green-space stewardship team offers growth and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and a readiness to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
• Willingness to complete Davey Tree orientation and safety courses upon hire.
• Relevant licenses or certificates, if state law requires, are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
• Work with ground crew and crew leader as an active team member.
• Operate tools and equipment including chainsaws and chippers with safety.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection as needed.
• Maintain equipment and ensure safe operation on site.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and crew leader.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients.
• Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking

• Love of the outdoors
• Preferred: Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
