Job summary

Griswold Home Care in La Jolla is seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as a part-time Caregiver. Enjoy flexible hours, day shifts, and a competitive wage of $20-$25/hour based on experience, with paid training and orientation.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of professional caregiver experience preferred.
• Experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s, hospice or higher-acuity clients is a plus.
• CNA or HHA certification is helpful, but not required.
• Registered on CA Home Care Aide Registry with fingerprint check.
• TB clearance that meets CA Health and Safety Code 1796.45.
• High school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred.
• Human Services experience at least 6 months is required.
• Strong desire to help others is a must.
• Alzheimer's/dementia/diabetic experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-medical elderly care and home companionship.
• Assist with daily tasks and personal hygiene.
• Prepare simple meals and maintain cleanliness.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and assist with mobility as needed.

YOUR LIFE AS A CAREGIVER

This companionship and caregiving position offers flexible hours and opportunities to assist seniors on day shifts. Clients may receive as little as 4 hours of care, while others require 24-hour care.

As a Caregiver, you have the rewarding job of helping seniors live as fully and independently as possible while remaining in the places they love. You competently provide non-medical elderly care and home companionship, helping with various homemaking responsibilities. With the client’s dignity always at the forefront of your mind, you help them maintain proper personal hygiene. You are gentle and professional as you aid them with daily tasks such as bathing and feeding. At times, you provide companionship to clients who have dementia or cognitive impairments. Your kind and patient demeanor serves you well as you ensure they receive the highest quality of elderly care.

You carefully complete documentation for each shift, submitting timely updates. Committed to providing consistent elderly care, you communicate routinely with the office about the condition and needs of your clients. You feel good about helping seniors enjoy their golden years, and you are glad you chose a career in the caregiving industry.

What We Need From You

Essential Duties:

• Language and literacy skills are adequate to communication needs and requests of the client
• Must be able to read care plan
• Must be able to communicate via telephone and/or text messages with Agency office
• Must have reliable transportation to and from a client’s home
• For cases requiring transportation, must have a valid driver’s license, positive driving record
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently change positions for extended period of time
• Completion of required 5 hours of training prior to client contact – may be provided by Agency

Educational Background/Knowledge/Prior Experience:

• At Least 1 year of professional caregiver experiencepreferred
• Experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s, hospice or higher-acuity clients is a plus

• TB clearance that meets CA Health and Safety Code 1796.45
