Job summary

Thorpe Plant Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced bricklayer/mason to join our Missouri-based team. You will lay bricks, blocks, and stone according to project blueprints and specifications, ensuring high-quality finishes and durable installations.

This role requires reading plans, measuring, cutting, and applying mortar with precision, while following safety regulations and on-site procedures. A valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying weather are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an apprenticeship or journeyman program in bricklaying or masonry.
• 5+ years of experience as a bricklayer or mason in a construction environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and project specifications.
• Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and laying masonry materials with precision.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices in bricklaying.
• Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and work in varying conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Preferred: certification or training in masonry or construction safety (e.g., OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Lay and install bricks, blocks, stone, and other masonry materials according to blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
• Prepare and clean surfaces, ensuring proper bonding materials and techniques are used for all installations.
• Measure and cut materials to fit project requirements with precision.
• Mix and apply mortar, grout, and other bonding agents to secure masonry materials.
• Work with brick, stone, concrete blocks, and cultured stone, ensuring correct installation and finishing.
• Ensure compliance with safety codes and project specifications.
• Repair and maintain masonry structures, including patching and re-pointing.
• Assist in the installation of decorative masonry elements such as arches, columns, and veneers.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain and care for tools and equipment; keep workspace organized and clean.
• Report inventory needs to supervisors and track materials used.
