Job summary

Thorpe Plant Services, Inc. seeks a skilled Bricklayer Journeyman to build and repair structures using brick, stone, and other masonry materials. You will read blueprints, cut and fit materials, mix mortars, and ensure quality craftsmanship with safety at the forefront.

The role requires extensive experience, adherence to codes, and the ability to work with a team on heavy construction sites across varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an apprenticeship or journeyman program in bricklaying or masonry.
• 5+ years of experience as a bricklayer or mason in a construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of masonry techniques, tools, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and project specifications.
• Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and laying masonry materials with precision.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices in bricklaying.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete projects efficiently and on time.
• Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
• Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot on-site issues.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lay and install bricks, blocks, stone, and other masonry materials according to blueprints and project specs.
• Prepare and clean surfaces with proper bonding materials and techniques.
• Measure and cut materials to fit project requirements with precision.
• Mix and apply mortar, grout, and bonding agents.
• Work with various masonry materials including brick, stone, and concrete blocks.
• Ensure compliance with safety and building codes and project specs.
• Repair and maintain masonry structures, patching and re-pointing as needed.
• Assist in decorative masonry installations like arches and veneers.
• Follow safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain and care for tools and equipment; keep workspace organized.
• Report inventory and material usage to supervisors.
• Perform other duties as required by foreman or project manager.
