Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking an Experienced Border Patrol Agent (GL‑9 / GS‑11) with a strong law enforcement background. The role offers field assignments across the Southwest Border with relocation possible and comprehensive benefits.

Training at the Border Patrol Academy is required after hire, with incentives available for prioritized locations. Base pay ranges from $65,545 to $124,717 annually, plus locality pay and up to 25% overtime.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Residency in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years.
• No education substitutions for GL‑9/GS‑11 level; required training at the Border Patrol Academy.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers at or near the borders using surveillance from covert positions.
• Interpret and follow tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off‑road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles.
