Qualifications

• Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.
• Residency: primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
• Age: referred before 40th birthday, with veteran exceptions.
• Formal training: Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM; Spanish proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Detect immigration and customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend aliens and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform checks and patrols across various operations and routes.
• Patrol international boundaries and waterways using diverse government assets.
