Job summary

THub Café in Berkeley, CA is seeking enthusiastic, experienced baristas to join our growing team. You will craft premium espresso drinks, boba beverages, and café fare, deliver outstanding service, and work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of barista/café experience preferred.
• Experience with commercial espresso machines and grinders.
• Knowledge of espresso extraction, milk steaming, and basic latte art preferred.
• Experience with boba tea or specialty beverages is a plus.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask during busy hours.
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and eager to learn.
• Flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare espresso drinks, lattes, cappuccinos, cold brews, boba drinks, refreshers, and specialty beverages.
• Follow recipes, measurements, and presentation guidelines for consistency.
• Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain proper extraction, milk steaming, beverage temperatures, and quality.
• Provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Take orders, operate POS, and handle transactions.
• Manage multiple drink orders during busy periods with speed and accuracy.
• Complete opening/closing procedures, restocking, and prep tasks.
• Monitor inventory and communicate shortages.
• Maintain cleanliness of beverage stations, counters, and restrooms.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and FIFO standards.
• Work with kitchen and front-of-house teammates as needed.
• Identify tasks that need attention without waiting for instructions.

• Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain proper espresso extraction, milk steaming, drink temperatures, and beverage quality.
• Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service.
• Accurately take customer orders, operate the POS system, and handle transactions.
• Manage multiple drink orders during busy periods while maintaining speed and accuracy.
• Complete daily opening and closing procedures, restocking, and preparation tasks.
• Monitor inventory, update inventory records, and communicate shortages.
• Maintain cleanliness of beverage stations, equipment, counters, customer areas, and restrooms.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and FIFO standards.
• Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house teammates, helping wherever needed.
• Take initiative to identify tasks that need attention without waiting for instructions.

Qualifications

• Previous barista or café experience preferred; 1-2+ years is a strong advantage.
• Experience operating commercial espresso machines and grinders.
• Knowledge of espresso extraction, milk steaming, and basic latte art is highly preferred.
• Experience preparing boba tea, milk tea, or specialty beverages is a plus.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently during busy hours.
• Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and recipe consistency.
• Reliable, punctual, organized, and willing to learn.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• California Food Handler Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
