Job summary

Gurnee Volkswagen is seeking an Experienced Automotive Technician to join our Service Department in Illinois. The ideal candidate will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on customer vehicles, using strong diagnostic abilities and mechanical skills.

We welcome technicians with VW/Audi experience; European automotive background is a plus. The role requires 3+ years of experience, own tools, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional automotive technician experience
• Volkswagen and/or Audi experience strongly preferred
• European automotive experience is a plus
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex vehicle concerns
• Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Must have your own professional tools
• ASE certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on customer vehicles
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical concerns
• Perform engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, and HVAC repairs
• Utilize diagnostic equipment and technical information to accurately identify vehicle concerns
• Perform routine maintenance and manufacturer-recommended services
• Complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications and dealership standards
• Perform quality-control inspections to ensure repairs are completed correctly
• Identify additional repairs and communicate findings when necessary
• Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostic and repair work
• Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all dealership and manufacturer safety procedures
