Job summary

Qualifications

  • Technical secondary education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be well organized, able to establish priorities and handle multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • 2+ years of body shop experience in automotive dealership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy per dealership and factory standards.
  • Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
  • Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
  • Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
  • Maintains and wears required safety PPE, including respirator, as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Complies with laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and hazardous materials.
  • Reports deviations to management.
  • Adheres to federal, state and local regulations affecting body shop operations (hazardous waste disposal, OSHA).
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Operates tools and equipment safely.
  • Reports safety issues immediately to management.

Education

Technical secondary education or equivalent preferred
Well organized, able to prioritize multiple projects with minimal supervision
2+ years body shop experience in automotive dealership preferred

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
  • Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
  • Notifies management of any additional repairs needed.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials.
  • Reports any deviations to management.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIALIZED TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
  • Technical secondary education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be well organized, able to establish priorities and handle a variety of projects and functions simultaneously with minimum supervision.
  • 2 or more years of body shop experience working in automotive dealership preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position requires frequent walking, bending and standing with moderate to heavy (20-75 lbs.) carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling. The position is a very physical and requires frequent hearing and repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and/or fingers. This position is located within an open bay environment and is substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
