Job summary

Hartwell Corporation is seeking a Machinist NC A to produce aerospace components to exact specifications. You will operate CNC tools, set up tooling, read drawings, and perform quality inspections to ensure conformance.

Collaboration with programming and maintenance of automation initiatives are key parts of the role. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of machine shop experience, proficient in 3/4/5-axis machining, and a strong quality and safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
  • 4+ years on-the-job machine shop experience; and/or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • NTMA or equivalent certificate preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines in a production environment to manufacture parts per specifications, blueprints and work instructions.
  • Set up and adjust tooling and workholding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, planning documents and work instructions.
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections.
  • Collaborate with programming to prove out and optimize new and existing part numbers.
  • Support automation initiatives, including lights-out and unattended machining.
  • Work with tool makers, supervisors and management to improve processes, tooling and throughput.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, degreasing).

Job description

A Machinist NC A plays a crucial role in the manufacturing aspect of the organization. Primary responsibility is to produce components to specification that will ultimately support the assembly of aerospace latches to be delivered to customers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Operate CNC machine tools in a production environment to manufacture parts in accordance with specifications, blueprints & work instructions.
  • Setup & adjust tooling & workholding.
  • Read & interpret blueprints, planning documents & work instructions.
  • Perform in-process & final quality inspections.
  • Collaborate with programming to prove out and optimize new & existing part #s.
  • Support automation initiatives, including lights-out & unattended machining.
  • Work with tool makers, supervisors & management to improve processes, tooling and throughput.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, degreasing).
  • Coordinate across shifts for smooth handoffs & "Must Ship" priorities.
  • Load parts & ensure quality and conformance
  • Operate CNC and/or manual equipment as needed

WE’RE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE

  • CNC Machining & setup experience
  • Experience w/ 3-, 4- or 5-axis equipment
  • Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings & specifications
  • Knowledge of tooling, workholding & precision measurement
  • Strong quality & safety mindset
  • Ability to troubleshoot & optimize machining processes
  • Leadership experience is a plus for experienced/ lead-level positions
  • Aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing experience is a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
  • Requires 4 or more years on-the-job machine shop experience; and/or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Community College, NTMA or equivalent certificate preferred but not required.

SIGNING BONUS: $2,000 to $7,500 based on machining experience and technical skill
