Job summary

C.W. Wright Construction Company, LLC. is looking for an Experienced 1st and 2nd Class Transmission Lineman in South Carolina. This full-time role involves working on high-quality utility construction projects, including both energized and de-energized transmission work. Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant experience, and must qualify for a Commercial Driver’s License. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience as a Lineman preferred.
  • Must qualify for and/or possess a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Ability to travel 75 miles or more.

Responsibilities

Our expertise comprises all aspects of utility work including overhead, underground, transmission, telephone special hotline construction, substations, cable splicing, foundations, horizontal and directional boring, and right-of-way clearing.

Job Duties
  • Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission work.
  • Capable of leading crew members in the absence of the Foreman.
  • Setting poles and anchors.
  • Able to understand and troubleshooting problems on transmission systems.
  • Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
  • Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
  • Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
  • Able to obtain knowledge of hot stick work on energized lines.
  • Proficient in understanding and reading blueprints.
  • Able to properly sag wire.
  • Capable of leading crew in assembly and erection of structures to all heights.
  • Understands dead ending and sagging operations for all conductors.
  • Capable of executing hot line work on conductor systems.
  • Able to obtain knowledge in bare hand work – 44KV & 100KV.
  • Proficient in Pole/Tower Climbing.
  • Proficient in all aspects of heavy lifting and rigging.
  • Must be familiar with induced voltage.
  • Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
  • Capable of properly installing and removing PPE and cover up.
  • Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
  • Understands how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
  • Able to identify and locate puller and tensioner setups.
  • Capable of planning safe work based on a job print or work order.
  • Understands how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.
  • Understands flag and tag procedures.
  • Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
  • Must be able to effectively conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing.
  • Must be able to safely perform a reconductoring job.
  • Capable of safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers.
Requirements
Physical Standards

Required physical abilities to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, finger dexterity, grasp, and repetitive motions. Must be able to routinely lift objects under 10 pounds; occasionally lift objects from 10-25 pounds, infrequently lift objects from 25 – 30 pounds and infrequently lift objects over 50 pounds.

Environmental Conditions

Work is performed outside and includes being exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, inclement weather, noise, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, darkness, and occasional poor lighting conditions.

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel 75 miles or more.
