Working for a world-class leader in building structures and bridges, a Schuff Steel Material Expeditor brings expertise and knowledge in steel fabrication to build some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the commercial building, bridge, and industrial sectors. The Expeditor works with materials to receive, expedite, and coordinate material from receiving to the cutting stage. Must have experience with cranes, rigging, and forklifts to manage and move steel material as needed. This position is critical to the production process, directing and assisting employees to ensure production needs are met. The expeditor utilizes a high degree of proficiency and full skills of the trade. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.

Core Responsibilities

• Coordinates locations of materials to be unloaded.
• Checks incoming steel in accordance with receiving procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Directs and assists other employees in all phases of material control and handling.
• Moves materials and assigns locations utilizing overhead cranes and/or forklifts.
• Maintains organized and clean work areas.
• Adheres to all safety rules and PPE requirements.

Education/Training & Work Experience

High school diploma or GED, and/or 12 months of directly related and stable work experience.

Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses

• Knowledge & Skills: Equipment such as cranes, rigging, forklifts.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to understand and carry out instructions, deal with problems involving multiple variables.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required.
