Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Welcomes and prepares patient for dental treatment, seating and draping as needed.
• Sterilizes instruments and assists dentist during procedures; passes instruments and suctioning.
• Exposes and develops radiographic studies; pours, trims, and finishes study casts.
• Maintains infection control and confidentiality; ensures safe, clean work environment.
• Manages dental supplies inventory and order placement; tracks stock levels.

Job Description/Duties Include:

• Preparestreatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Preparespatient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
• Sterilizesand delivers instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
• Selects, mixes, and places materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
• Exposesand develops radiographic studies; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
• Maintainspatient confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintainssafe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Adheresto infection-control policies and protocols.
• Completespreventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Maintainsdental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
• Appliessealants, takesimpressions, performs coronal polishing, applies topical anesthetic,applies topical fluoride
• Obtains prior authorizations
• Scans
• Handles patient phone calls

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Current radiography certification required
• Current EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) certification required
• Dental Assistant certification as required by state; ability to become certified
