Cornerstone Care, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with locations throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania, seeks an EFDA to join our dental team at Sto-Rox Family Health Center in McKees Rocks, PA. The role requires EFDA and radiography certifications and a state-approved dental assistant credential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current radiography certification required.
• Current EFDA certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares treatment room for patient by following procedures.
• Prepares patient for dental treatment and assists dentist.
• Sterilizes and delivers instruments; passes instruments.
• Exposes radiographs; pours, trims, and polishes study casts.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to infection-control policies.
• Maintains equipment and supplies; manages inventory and orders.
• Obtains prior authorizations and handles patient communications.

Job Description/Duties Include:

• Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient.
• Sterilizes and delivers instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments.
• Selects, mixes, and places materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.
• Exposes and develops radiographic studies; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
• Maintains patient confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Completes preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
• Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
• Applies sealants, takes impressions, performs coronal polishing, applies topical anesthetic, applies topical fluoride
• Obtains prior authorizations
• Scans
• Handles patient phone calls

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Current radiography certification required
• Current EFDA (Expanded Function Dental Assistant) certification required
• Dental Assistant certification as required by state; ability to become certified
