Job summary

Community Health & Dental Care, Inc. seeks an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support Dentists with chair-side duties across CHDC locations. The role includes taking and processing X-rays, sterilization, and placement of restorative materials within scope of EFDA licensure.

Requirements include EFDA licensure, X-ray certification, CPR, and dental office experience; bilingual (preferred). This full-time position reports to the Dental Clinical Supervisor and involves site assignments

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• EFDA licensure.
• X-ray certificate.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists Dentist in providing quality dental care in all CHDC venues; performs general chair-side dental assistance.
• Placement of preventative or restorative materials (sealants, metallic and nonmetallic restoratives).
• Placement of temporary fillings/crowns/bridges and suture removal.
• Take and process X-rays including Panorex.
• Computer charting and documentation.

About The Expanded Function Dental Assistant Position

Provides general dental assistant duties, taking and processing X-rays, Sterilization, placement of preventative or restorative materials limited to sealants, metallic and composite materials.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

• Assists Dentist in providing quality dental care in all venues through which agency Perform general chair side dental assistance
• Placement of preventative or restorative materials limited to sealants, metallic and nonmetallic restorative materials
• Placement of temporary filling materials/ crowns, bridges and remove sutures
• Take and process x-rays including Panorex
• Computer charting and documentation
• Perform dental Instrument sterilization duties
• Performs all assigned duties in a manner consistent with maintaining a safe and respectful patient care environment.

Requirements

• EFDA Licensure

• EFDA experience preferred
• Bilingual/bicultural strongly preferred
• Attendance required at assigned CHDC site(s)

Our History

Community Health and Dental Care was formed through the generous funding of the Pottstown Area Health and Wellness Foundation along with various local businesses. Our doors opened in October 2008 with 39 medical and dental patients seen that first week and we’ve grown to see thousands of medical and dental patients each year. As a non-profit community health center, we have been organized to become the patient’s medical home for preventive care and to promote overall well-being, thus reducing the number of emergency room visits.
