Responsibilities

• Perform EFDA duties within PA law.
• Place and finish restorative materials as permitted by EFDA.
• Assist doctors during restorative and other procedures.
• Prepare operatories, instruments, materials, and equipment.
• Take diagnostic dental radiographs as permitted.
• Document treatment and update patient records.
• Review patient medical histories and communicate with the clinical team.
• Provide pre- and postoperative instructions.
• Maintain sterilization, infection control, and OSHA standards.

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant

Location:

Bloomfield – Pittsburgh, PA

Position Type:

Full-Time

Schedule:

• Monday: 9:00am – 6:00pm
• Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
• Friday: 8:00am – 1:30pm

Compensation:

• Hourly Rate: $28–$38/hour, based on experience
• Annualized Compensation: Approximately $58,240–$79,040/year based on a 40-hour work week

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our established private dental practice in the Bloomfield area of Pittsburgh, PA. This is an excellent opportunity for an EFDA who takes pride in their clinical skills, enjoys working as part of a collaborative team, and is looking for a long-term professional home. Key Responsibilities:

• Perform expanded function dental assisting duties within the scope permitted by Pennsylvania law.
• Place and finish restorative materials as permitted by EFDA certification.
• Assist doctors during restorative and other dental procedures.
• Prepare operatories, instruments, materials, and equipment for scheduled procedures.
• Take diagnostic dental radiographs as permitted.
• Accurately document treatment and update patient records.
• Review patient medical histories and communicate relevant information to the clinical team.
• Provide patients with pre- and post-operative instructions.
• Maintain proper sterilization, infection control, and OSHA standards.
• Assist with room turnover and preparation to maintain efficient patient flow.
• Help monitor clinical supplies and communicate inventory needs.
• Collaborate with doctors, hygienists, assistants, and administrative team members.

Qualifications:

• Active Pennsylvania Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) credential.
• Dental radiology certification as required by Pennsylvania.
