The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is seeking skilled woodworkers to plan, lay out, and perform machine operations to build models and prototypes for the NRL community. You will create visual displays and exhibits, using a broad range of woodworking tools and knowledge of wood types and substitutes.
Responsibilities include constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining exhibits and training devices, with layout work and templates as needed to scale parts from wood and non-metal materials.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

You will work in tiring positions for prolonged periods. Work requires frequent standing, bending, stooping crouching and arm movements. You will frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds and may occasionally lift heavier items with assistance.
You will frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts and serious injuries, such as loss of fingers, from accidents while operating wood working machines. You will frequently exposed to splinters, saw dust and flying wooden objects from rotating wood working machinery. You will frequently exposed to eye, skin, nose and lung irritations from glue, bonding chemicals, vapors and sawdust.
