Job summary

The Huntington seeks an Associate Exhibition Designer to create 2-D and 3-D designs for permanent collection displays, signage, and select exhibitions across the Institution’s Art Museum, Library, and Botanical divisions. You will establish design standards and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver accessible, high-quality exhibition elements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in graphic design, environmental graphic design, exhibition design, architecture, art, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Vectorworks, Microsoft Office; strong typography and layout skills.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings, construct fabrication drawings, and communicate concepts clearly.
• Experience collaborating with curators, fabricators, vendors, and internal teams in a museum/exhibition setting.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities with attention to budgets and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Design exhibition identity and graphics for walls, panels, and signage from concept to installation.
• Maintain consistent visual standards across permanent collections and exhibitions.
• Coordinate production with internal teams and external vendors for fabrication and installation.
• Develop design concepts, drawings, and specifications for gallery layouts and built environments.
• Review layouts with curators and editors, manage proofs, and ensure accessibility and safety standards.
• Prepare files for in-house printing and coordinate with external designers as needed.
