Job summary

The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is seeking an Electronics Technician to test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental and production electronic, electromechanical and computer components and systems. This 10-hour, 4 day/week union-position (IBEW Local #134) offers stable hours, weekend availability, and opportunities to work across interactive exhibits and live productions.

Responsibilities include CMMS reporting and collaboration with other technicians to maintain exhibit

Qualifications

• Five years of related experience; college or technical-school certificate is a plus.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing computer systems, electronics, show control, lighting control, audio mixing, and PLCs.
• Live entertainment production experience is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
• Electrical concepts including Ohms law, AC vs DC, voltage, load, and circuits.
• Knowledge of cable types and termination for high/low voltage including AV and networks.
• Ability to use a multimeter.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper operation of all museum exhibits.
• Report exhibit status in CMMS daily down log.
• Coordinate repair activity with manager and technicians.
• Generate and complete work orders in CMMS.
• Test equipment to evaluate performance.
• Perform diagnostic testing on computer systems.
• Maintain exhibits' electromechanical systems.
• Support exhibit technicians with advanced troubleshooting.
• Install and dismantle exhibits.
• Learn startup/shutdown procedures for exhibits.
• Analyze and interpret test data.
• Write technical reports and develop charts/schematics.
• Other duties as assigned.
