Job summary

The St. Louis Science Center seeks an Exhibit Electronics A/V Manager to design, implement, and maintain lighting and interactive exhibit AV within permanent, temporary, and traveling displays.

You’ll collaborate with exhibit designers, engineers, educators, and operations staff to ensure lighting supports safety, accessibility, and visitor engagement. 5+ years in A/V design is preferred. Evening/weekend support may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years designing and implementing A/V systems in museums or similar settings.
• Technical degree or equivalent professional experience in lighting design, exhibit design, or related field.
• Experience with lighting control protocols and/or networked lighting systems.
• Ability to read and produce technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specs.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on with tools and components.

Responsibilities

• Design creative A/V solutions for interactive exhibits and public spaces.
• Produce documentation: fixture schedules, wiring diagrams, control narratives, focusing plans.
• Integrate lighting with exhibit electronics and show-control systems.
• Program and configure lighting control systems.
• Collaborate with Exhibit Electronics, Engineering, designers, and operations teams.
• Manage technical audiovisual equipment for exhibits and events.
• Assist in development cycles, prototyping, and installation schedules.
• Support installations and traveling exhibitions as needed.
