Job summary

Sharp HealthCare is seeking an Exercise Instructor to plan and administer exercise sessions for cardiac outpatients. You will assess prescriptions, collaborate with the care team, and support department goals.

Requires a Bachelor's in Exercise Science/Physiology and AHA BLS; teaching experience preferred. Weekend coverage is essential, with additional weekday shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science/Physiology is required.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - REQUIRED.
• ACLS Certification - PREFERRED.
• Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) - PREFERRED.
• ACE Certification preferred.
• 1 Year teaching experience - PREFERRED

Responsibilities

• Customer service and using member's name when possible.
• Design and lead exercise sessions in accordance with class description.
• Ensure safe and effective exercise technique.
• Teach scheduled classes and manage substitutions.
• Notify supervisor of schedule changes and complete time cards.
• Promote the fitness program and participate in staff meetings.

Hourly Pay Range

Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $33.400 - $41.740 - $46.760 The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do

Under leadership, plans and administers assigned exercise instructor functions and duties. Assesses, implements, and evaluates exercise prescriptions for cardiac outpatients. Facilitates multidisciplinary approach to patient care and attainment of department goals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science/Physiology.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 Year teaching experience.
• ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
• Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) - American College of Sports Medicine -PREFERRED

• ACE Certification preferred.

Essential Functions

• Customer service

• Design and development Eight to ten minute warm-up including gross body movement followed by static stretches.
• Exercises that meet class description.
• Safe and effective exercise technique.
• Explanation through verbal or physical instruction variations of exercises to accommodate all levels of exercise.
• Exercises are provided in a manner that is responsive to the client's needs, physical condition, and level of understanding, age and culture.
• Five to ten minutes of static stretching and relaxation at end of class unless class is stretching class.
• Marketing Markets Motion Center fitness center and the Personal training program by giving accurate and descriptive information on: Classes offered Fees Policies and Procedures Meeting participation Attendance of scheduled instructor meetings/staff meetings, completes assignments in a timely manner: Reviews material if unable to attend meetings.
• Completes assignments in a timely manner.
• Completes time card accurately.
• Teach scheduled classes
• Finding a substitute teacher when needed.
• Promptly notifying supervisor of any change in schedule (ie. substitute teacher).
