Job summary

Sharp HealthCare in San Diego seeks a skilled Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist to support Cath Lab procedures and assist cardiologists with EP and ablation cases.

The role requires formal CV technology training, an Associate’s degree, and 2 years of CV tech and EP experience, plus BLS certification. ACLS and RCIS are preferred. Must be able to document and respond rapidly in sterile, safety-conscious environments.

Qualifications

• Graduate of formal invasive cardiovascular technology program.
• Associate's Degree required.
• 2 years experience as an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist and electrophysiology.
• Experience with EP, ablation, and transseptal procedure prep.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Professional required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with performing all Cath Lab procedures.
• Monitor and/or circulate for procedures.
• Document in MAC Lab Event Log with patient ID.
• Interpret hemodynamic data and respond to abnormal values.
• Recognize emergencies and act appropriately.
• Know supplies, locations, and par levels.
• Transition from diagnostic to interventional procedures.

Hours: Shift Start Time: 7 AM Shift End Time: 5:30 PM AWS Hours Requirement: 10/40 - 10 Hour Shift Additional Shift Information: Per Diem Weekend Requirements: No Weekends On-Call Required: No Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $54.670 - $70.540 - $79.000 This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member (e.g. dues paying, fee paying, religious exception contributor) for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement. This position was originally posted to ratified SEIU members from 9/8/26 – 9/15/26. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp.

To perform a wide variety of technical procedures with quality patient care, assisting cardiologists as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of formal invasive cardiovascular technology program
• Associate's Degree
• 2 Years experience as an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist and electrophysiology
• Must have experience with EP, ablation, and transseptal procedure preparation including equipment, supplies.
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

• Bachelor's Degree
• ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -PREFERRED
• IV Certification (NPTA Sterile Product Certification) - Various-Employee provides certificate -PREFERRED
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International -PREFERRED

Other Qualification Requirements

• NASPE certification preferred.

Essential Functions

• Assist with performing all Cath Lab procedures
• Demonstrate ability to assume team role to monitor and/or circulate for all procedures.
• Ability to document in MAC Lab Event Log to include correct patient identification.
• Ability to interpret hemodynamic functions and take appropriate action when outside of normal values.
• Ability to recognize emergency situation and take appropriate action.
• Knowledge of all procedure supplies, locations and par levels.
• Track and bill for appropriate supplies and equipment.
• Ability to transition from routine diagnostic procedure to intervention.

Patient care

• Follows patient's Advanced Directive.
• Maintains strict patient confidentiality, keeps work discussion professional and limited to private areas.
• Provides pre and post procedure education to patient and family.
• Provides pre and post procedure education and reassurance to include but not limited to: What the procedure is, how long it is going to take, physician involved, contrast administration and mode of delivery, positioning, instructions related to procedure, the report, patient satisfaction form, etc.
• Interacts and communicates in a manner to reflect an understanding of the patient's age, culture, state of health, level of comprehension.
• Communicates and interacts with the patient's family in a way that is perceived positive and supportive while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Interact with nursing care departments to assure appropriate communication of patient care and status.

Quality assurance

• Verifies patient identification and pregnancy status.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals.
• Use of abbreviations.
• Infection control/hand washing.
• Alarm audits.
• Patient identification.
• Follow appropriate radiation safety practices.
