Job summary

The University of Portland invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science beginning August 15, 2027. The position is in a primarily undergraduate setting with nine contact hours per semester and opportunity to develop an innovative program within the new Exercise Science major.

Responsibilities include teaching core courses, mentoring undergraduates in research, and building partnerships across campus and with clinical and athletic programs.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in exercise science, kinesiology, or related discipline
• Teaching or instructional experience
• Preferred: experience teaching undergraduate courses in exercise science and related areas
• Preferred: experience mentoring undergraduate student research projects

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person core courses in the exercise science program
• Teach courses in human anatomy and physiology
• Mentor and supervise undergraduate student research projects
• Develop program curricula and partnerships within the department and across campus
