Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks an Exercise Physiologist to support athletes and patients in ambulatory care, focusing on concussion management, cardiac screening, and safe return-to-play pathways. The role involves education, clinical assessments, and coordination of care across multidisciplinary teams in an outpatient setting, with a per diem schedule and day shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, a health-related field, or a related discipline.
• BLS Provider CPR certification required.
• Experience in exercise physiology, athletic training, sports medicine, concussion management, cardiac screening, patient navigation, or related healthcare settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Medical Director and subspecialists with clinical management of post-concussion patients.
• Educate patients through acute and subacute post-concussion care and coordinate with teams and schools.
• Explain Return-to-Learn and Return-to-Play protocols to patients and families.
• Perform baseline and post-concussion assessments, including ImPACT testing and cardiac screening if applicable.
• Support physical therapists with exercise programming and Return-to-Play progression.
• Coordinate referrals to rehabilitation and other sports medicine services in outpatient settings.
