Yale NewHaven Health seeks an Exercise Specialist to evaluate and supervise clients in cardiac rehabilitation, and to develop exercise prescriptions in consultation with supervising providers. The role involves collaboration with clinicians and may require outreach activities.
You will document assessments and monitor progress to support patient recovery. Experience in cardiac or pulmonary rehab is preferred; BLS is required, and ACSM/AACVPR certification is encouraged.

Evaluate, supervise and monitor clients during exercise rehabilitation. Evaluate profiles /intakes and recommends program through Cardiac Rehabilitation services. Develop exercise prescriptions in consultation with Supervising Provider and render exercise programs upon providers referral for apparently healthy and diseased populations. Questions, concerns, and medical decisions regarding treatment must be discussed with HVC nurse/physician clinician, Manager and/or medical advisor. Follow up, document and maintain participants needs. This job may require practice outside the hospital campus, such as Health Fairs etc. and own transportation may be utilized

EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology . Masters preferred
EXPERIENCE
Prior experience as an exercise specialist required, preferably in a cardiac rehabilitation or pulmonary rehabilitation program
LICENSURE
BLS needed, certification by ACSM or AACVPR will be encouraged
SPECIAL SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal skills, public speaking skills and the ability to practice independently. Computer skills including Epic and Outlook
PHYSICAL DEMAND
Moderate physical effort with some bending, stooping, stretching and lifting, standing and walking most of the day.
