Job summary

Cornerstone Global Partners (CGP Group) in Houston seeks a Vice President of Solar Project Development to lead a major utility-scale solar and storage program across Texas. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• 18–20+ years in renewable energy or project development.
• 12–15+ years in utility-scale solar development.
• Mandatory hands-on experience in early-stage greenfield utility-scale solar.
• Strong knowledge of Texas land acquisition, permitting, ERCOT interconnection, and regulatory processes.
• Proven experience taking projects from origination through construction.
• Understanding of project economics, EPC execution, procurement, and development risks.
• Established network across the Texas renewable energy market.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of a 2 GW utility-scale solar pipeline across Texas, targeting 600 MW Notice to Proceed by Dec 2027.
• Originate greenfield projects and secure land through site screening, feasibility, landowner negotiations, leases, options, and easements.
• Drive permitting, environmental approvals, engineering studies, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead ERCOT interconnection strategy, applications, grid studies, transmission coordination, and interconnection agreements.
• Develop projects through investment readiness and coordinate the transition from development into construction.
• Support EPC contractor selection, procurement strategy, project financial modeling, and investment committee reviews.
• Support PPA, hedging, financing, and tax equity diligence activities.
• Evaluate standalone and co-located battery energy storage opportunities.
• Build strong relationships with Texas landowners, utilities, ERCOT stakeholders, government authorities, consultants, and contractors.
• Take ownership of complex on-ground challenges and keep projects progressing within budgets and schedules.
