Job description

Executive Vice President - Strategic Growth
Major Projects | Market Development | Business Building
Location: United States, with nationwide travel
Compensation: Market-leading executive package

An established general contractor is appointing an Executive Vice President to help lead its next phase of accelerated growth.

The business has the resources, delivery capability and ambition to pursue significant opportunities. It now requires a highly credible industry executive with the market relationships, commercial judgement and leadership capability to translate that potential into profitable growth.

This is a formative appointment. The successful executive will influence strategy, open new markets, originate major opportunities and help build the organization required to deliver them.

The Executive Vice President will hold a broad commercial and strategic mandate: strengthen the company’s market position, create a high-quality pipeline and convert opportunity into sustainable revenue and margin.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and executing the company’s growth strategy.
  • Originating major opportunities through established market relationships.
  • Opening doors with owners, developers, investors, operators and strategic partners.
  • Building new client relationships and expanding key accounts.
  • Positioning the business for complex, high-value and negotiated projects.
  • Converting market intelligence into a disciplined and actionable pipeline.
  • Establishing partnerships that strengthen market access and delivery capability.
  • Maintaining alignment between commercial commitments, risk and operational execution.
  • Building the leadership and organizational capacity required to support growth.
  • Assuming accountability for revenue, margin and overall business performance.
  • Representing the company with clients and senior industry stakeholders.
  • Helping define the long-term direction and market position of the business.
The executive

We are seeking an established leader who is already well known and active within the U.S. construction and infrastructure market.

The successful candidate will bring a meaningful network of trusted relationships and a strong understanding of where future opportunities are developing. They will have the credibility to engage senior decision-makers, the commercial instinct to create opportunity and the discipline to convert relationships into executable business.

Candidates should demonstrate:
  • A strong network of customers, developers, project owners and strategic partners.
  • A credible book of relationships and commercially relevant opportunities.
  • A record of originating and securing significant project revenue.
  • Experience building, leading or materially scaling a contracting or infrastructure business.
  • Executive-level P&L responsibility and evidence of profitable growth.
  • Experience overseeing complex, high-value capital projects or programs.
  • Strong judgement across contracts, procurement, project risk and capital allocation.
  • The ability to build and lead high-performing commercial and operational teams.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset combined with disciplined execution.
  • An uncompromising commitment to safety, quality and delivery performance.

Relevant experience may have been gained in general contracting, EPC, MEP, electrical construction, mission-critical facilities, power infrastructure, utilities or complex industrial projects.

The opportunity

This appointment represents an opportunity to help shape a new era for an established contractor.

The successful executive will join at a pivotal point in the company’s development, with the mandate and organizational backing to open markets, secure transformational projects and build a platform for sustained growth.

This is a role for an executive who wants to create rather than inherit: someone motivated by the opportunity to shape strategy, build capability and leave a meaningful commercial legacy.

A market-leading executive compensation package will be offered. Further information concerning the organization, mandate and package will be shared with suitably qualified candidates during the confidential search process.

All applications, referrals and preliminary discussions will be treated in strict confidence.
