Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. is seeking a remote underwriter who partners with a regional leader to perform high‑level financial analysis, risk assessment, and underwriting to determine credit quality. You will develop and maintain relationships with producers and cultivate new business while ensuring profitability targets.

You will monitor accounts for compliance, prepare submissions and recommendations within authority, and contribute to additional projects as directed by the Regional Lead.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years surety underwriting experience and/or equivalent surety related experience.
  • AFSB designation preferred; strong financial analysis and risk assessment skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial condition and credit history of accounts.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to multi-task.
  • Remote work capability with Southeast region focus.

Position Summary

Partnering with a regional leader, provide underwriting and marketing duties by conducting high levels of financial analysis, risk assessment and utilizing technical underwriting expertise to determine credit quality and underwriting acceptability. This candidate can sit 100% remote in the Southeast.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Gather and analyze information, applying appropriate underwriting techniques, necessary to make an accurate evaluation of credit quality & acceptability of risk
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with assigned producers and cultivate new relationships
  • Responsible for developing and managing a book of business, meeting/exceeding profitability objectives as set forth by management. This includes building and growing strategic relationships as well as finding opportunity for new business within the defined territory
  • Continuously monitor assigned accounts to ensure compliance with Arch standards and make/recommend appropriate corrective actions as needed
  • Prepare underwriting submissions, making recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits
  • Performs additional projects as requested by Regional Lead
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles and the ability to demonstrate sound business judgment in evaluation of the financial condition, experience, credit history and character of contract accounts
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to meet agreed upon expectations
  • Learns quickly and demonstrates an open attitude when faced with new problems, processes, or procedures.
Education and Experience

Minimum of three years surety underwriting experience and/or equivalent surety related experience required. AFSB designation preferred. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office software products.
