Job summary

Morton County Sheriff''s Office seeks an Undersheriff to assist in administration of the department. This high-visibility leadership role requires strong ethical character, critical incident command abilities, and a proven record in law enforcement.

The Sheriff is completing the term, and the Undersheriff will be prepared to progress toward an elected Sheriff career. Duties include patrol, investigations, and enforcement of laws; qualifications include U.S.

Qualifications

No felony or misdemeanor crimes or integrity issues.
U.S. citizen, 21+ years old.
Pass pre-employment background, drug test, and psychological evaluation.
Possess a high school diploma or GED and valid driver''s license.
Current KLETC certification or ability to pass within first year; reciprocity eligible.
Knowledge of Kansas statutes; experience in law enforcement supervision.

Responsibilities

Assist in administration of the Sheriff''s Office and advance department goals.
Lead with strong ethics and handle critical incident command.
Oversee patrol, traffic enforcement, investigations, and civil/criminal proceedings.
Foster positive relationships with the community and stakeholders.
Ensure readiness for KLETC training within first year or reciprocity.
