Job summary

Sparta Township, New Jersey, with a population of about 20,000, is seeking an experienced Township Manager to serve as its chief executive and administrative officer under the Faulkner Act. The Manager leads all municipal departments, the annual budget, personnel, labor negotiations, purchasing, and capital planning, implementing Council policies.

The salary range is $170,000–$225,000 with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressively responsible management experience, preferably in municipal government.
• Bachelor's degree is required; a master's in Public Administration or related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of New Jersey municipal law, Faulkner Act, budget and contracts law.

Responsibilities

• Manager acts as Township's chief executive and administrative officer under state law.
• Oversee all municipal departments, annual budget, personnel, labor negotiations, purchasing and capital planning.
• Carry out policies set by the Council and earn the confidence of residents and staff.
