Google DeepMind invites an exceptional editorial leader and writer to drive the DeepMind Institute's publishing desk, translating frontier AI research into accessible narratives and shaping the Institute's voice.

In this dual role you will craft flagship content as an executive technical writer and mentor a team of writers and researchers, partnering with the Managing Director to shape arguments and ensure timely publication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 14 years of experience in technical writing, journalism, or editorial management.
• Experience translating scientific or technical concepts into accessible narratives.
• Experience in copy-editing, proofreading, and maintaining house style guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Act as an executive technical writer, drafting flagship DMI publications and setting the Institute's voice.
• Provide direct editorial guidance to the writing team, shaping arguments and priorities.
• Own final copy-editing, fact-checking, and proofreading to maintain style and accessibility.
• Manage formatting, citations, and CMS uploads as the publication's final checkpoint.
• Coordinate with operations and communications to meet strict SLAs and promotion needs.
