Job summary

Google DeepMind in New York, NY, USA seeks an exceptional editorial leader and writer to drive DeepMind Institute's publishing desk. The role translates frontier AI research into accessible narratives, setting the Institute's voice and tone.

You will mentor a team, shape complex arguments with the Managing Director, and ensure rigorous quality across publications for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 14 years of experience in technical writing, journalism, or editorial management.
• Experience managing an editorial desk or overseeing a team of writers to deliver content on deadline.
• Experience translating scientific or technical concepts into accessible narratives for audiences.
• Experience in copy-editing, proofreading, and maintaining house style guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Act as an executive technical writer, drafting flagship DMI publications to set the Institute's voice.
• Provide editorial guidance to the writing team and unblock intellectual hurdles for priorities.
• Own final copy-editing, fact-checking, and proofreading per house style and accessibility standards.
• Manage formatting, citation checks, and CMS uploads as final publication checkpoint.
• Coordinate with operations and communications to meet feedback SLAs and prepare content for channels.
