Description

AfriThrive is a growing Maryland-based nonprofit building vibrant and thriving Black immigrant communities through culturally grounded food access, community-powered agriculture, health equity, and economic opportunity. As we continue to grow and strengthen our impact, we are seeking an exceptional Executive & Special Assistant to serve as a trusted partner to our Founder and Chief Executive Officer and help advance the organization's next phase of growth.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organized, proactive, and resourceful professional who enjoys supporting executive leadership, coordinating complex priorities, and translating vision into action. Working closely with the CEO, you will help strengthen organizational effectiveness by supporting strategic initiatives, board engagement, fundraising, partnerships, and executive operations.

If you thrive in a mission-driven environment, anticipate needs before they arise, exercise sound judgment, and enjoy bringing structure to dynamic work, you'll find this to be a rewarding opportunity to contribute to meaningful community impact while growing professionally alongside a collaborative and purpose-driven team.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate CEO-led strategic initiatives and cross-functional projects.
  • Maintain executive action trackers, timelines, and accountability systems.
  • Support leadership meetings through agenda preparation, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Identify and elevate issues that may affect organizational priorities.

Board & Governance

  • Coordinate Board and committee meetings, logistics, agendas, and meeting materials.
  • Serve as a key point of coordination between the CEO, Board members, and committee chairs.
  • Track governance activities, board action items, and follow-up.
  • Support fundraising, donor stewardship, sponsorship, and partnership activities.
  • Coordinate executive meetings and communications with funders, partners, elected officials, and community leaders.
  • Prepare donor briefings, partnership materials, acknowledgments, and executive communications.

Research & Special Projects

  • Conduct research and prepare materials that support executive decision-making.
  • Draft reports, presentations, proposals, and strategic communications.
  • Lead or support special projects that advance AfriThrive's mission and organizational priorities.
