Job summary

Belmont Village Senior Living is seeking an Executive Sous Chef to lead and participate in hands-on meal preparation, working with the Chef Manager and dining teams to exceed resident and guest expectations.

You will help recruit, train, and develop culinary talent in a state-of-the-art kitchen, building relationships with residents in our restaurant-style dining rooms. If you have experience and a passion for learning and leadership, we’d love to connect.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School diploma or equivalent at minimum.
  • Culinary arts or food management training preferred.
  • 2+ years cooking experience with progressive responsibility in a restaurant or high-volume setting.
  • 1+ year supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Clear verbal and written English communication.
  • Flexible schedule as dining program requires.
  • Proficient with MS Office and POS tech in the workplace.
  • Reliable attendance essential for Belmont Village team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee kitchen operations in the Chef Manager's absence, ensuring quality and productivity.
  • Ensure recipe consistency and adapt menus to special events.
  • Drive resident and guest satisfaction through outstanding dining service.
  • Prepare production schedules and weekly food orders; daily meal prep as needed.
  • Train staff on safety, food handling, and cleanliness; enforce policies fairly.
  • Collaborate with community leadership, regional teams, and corporate to meet goals.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, coaching, and scheduling.

As the Executive Sous Chef, you will be hands-on with meal preparation as needed, working closely with the Chef Manager, front of house and back of house teams to ensure the hospitality oriented dining program consistently exceeds resident and guest expectations. You will assist with selection, training and growing culinary talent within our state-of-the-art kitchen and develop lasting relationships with residents and guests in our restaurant style dining room. Supported by our experienced Regional and Corporate teams, you’ll help cultivate a culture of collaboration and excellence in dining and hospitality. Your Typical Responsibilities
  • Oversee food service compliance in the absence of the Chef Manager while ensuring exceptional quality and productivity by effectively scheduling and coordinating kitchen staff operations.
  • Ensure recipe consistency and adherence to company standards while showcasing culinary creativity for special event menu planning as needed.
  • Drive resident and guest satisfaction through clear communication, superior meal preparation, and outstanding dining service.
  • Complete weekly food orders, prepare meals daily as needed, and prepare production schedules
  • Build a positive workplace culture by training employees in safety protocols, food handling, and kitchen cleanliness, while applying company policies fairly and consistently.
  • Collaborate with community leadership, regional teams, and corporate support to align with organizational goals.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, coaching, training, staff scheduling and task delegation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • College, technical school and/or training in Food Management or Culinary Arts preferred
  • Minimum 2 years cooking experience with progressive responsibility in a restaurant, hotel or high volume cooking environment.
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory and leadership experience
  • Must be able to communicate clear in verbal and written English
  • Ability to work flexible schedule as the needs of the dining program require
  • Demonstrated successful use of technology in the workplace including MS Office and POS
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential for all Belmont Village employees to ensure the successful operation of the community
