Job Summary

MAX Ultimate Food is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Sous Chef to work out of our commissary in Boston and at events throughout the Greater New England area. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, possess strong leadership abilities, and have a proven track record of success in high-volume catering or high-end restaurant or hotel environments. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of top-tier culinary experiences that exceed our clients' expectations. This is a unique opportunity for a highly qualified chef, as we are experiencing significant growth and are preparing to expand our business into a new facility.

Position Details
  • Title: Executive Sous Chef
  • Reports To: Executive Chef
  • Salary: $80,000 to $100,000

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the executive chef to plan and develop innovative, high-quality menus tailored to each event, including client tastings.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient production and exceptional food quality in high-volume settings.
  • Manage and mentor kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Monitor inventory, control costs, and minimize waste while maintaining ingredient quality.
  • Coordinate culinary aspects of events with sales, event managers, and leadership to ensure seamless execution.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, creativity, and innovation.
  • Lead prep cooks and event chefs onsite and at private/offsite events.
  • Work with high-end clients, providing excellent customer service.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as directed by the Executive Chef and leadership team.
Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience as a sous chef or executive sous chef in high-volume, high-end catering, restaurant, or hotel environments.
  • Strong culinary skills and creativity in dish presentation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certifications are a plus, but relevant experience may suffice.
