Job summary

East Cleveland City Schools in Cleveland, Ohio seeks a Treasurer / Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial operations, ensure compliance with state and federal law, and provide accurate financial information to the Board, Superintendent, and community. The role partners with the leadership team to align resources with educational goals.

The position requires a valid Ohio School Treasurer License (or eligibility), a bachelor's degree in a related field, and strong knowledge of Ohio school

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio School Treasurer License, or eligibility to obtain one before start date.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Ohio school finance, including state funding formula, budgeting, forecasting, and tax levies.
• Ability to be bonded as required by Ohio law.
• Successful completion of BCI and FBI background checks.

Responsibilities

• Direct all district accounting, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, and cash management functions in accordance with Ohio law, Auditor of State requirements, and GAAP/GASB standards.
• Prepare and present the five-year financial forecast and required updates, along with annual appropriations and the tax budget.
• Prepare the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report or annual financial report and coordinate the annual audit with the Auditor of State.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting through EMIS, ODEW, and other state and federal agencies.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to protect district assets and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.
