The City of Norwood is seeking a Safety Services Director to lead the police, fire, and public works operations, serving as the chief administrative authority for the City.

Under the Mayor's direction, the Director oversees budgeting, program development, emergency planning, and staff supervision, with a negotiable starting salary around $120,000 to $130,000 and a comprehensive benefits package including pension.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Police Science, Fire Science, Behavioral Science, Public or Business Administration, Communications, or related field; seven years in municipal management, five in supervision
• Equivalent combination of education, experience and training providing the required knowledge, skills and abilities
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and remain insurable under City policy
• Residency in Norwood may be required and professional designations are preferred (ICMA, OCMA, CAMA, OML, CLO)

Responsabilidades

• Provides leadership and guidance in creation, administration, planning, and direction of police, fire and public works functions; develops goals, policies and work standards; supervises personnel and conducts staff development
• Plans, organizes and directs Public Service Department activities; manages municipal water, lighting, and other undertakings; ensures compliance with laws and city ordinances
• Oversees contracts for buildings and improvements; reviews development as it relates to city infrastructure; directs bidding and purchasing for public works projects
• Directs annual budget preparation for safety departments; manages expenditures; forecasts funds for health and safety services; develops long-range plans for city safety programs
• Represents City with other jurisdictions; collaborates with departments and citizen groups; develops emergency action plans and presents reports to Mayor and Council
• Maintains records of documents and proceedings; attends meetings and trainings as directed
