Job summary

Gavin de Becker & Associates in Grand Rapids is seeking a Protector to safeguard clients and support mission-driven teams. You will monitor sites, screen visitors, coordinate security plans, and provide protective logistics for client locations.

The role requires a high school diploma, physical readiness, background checks, and participation in a 12‑day training academy in San Antonio, TX. Military or law enforcement experience helps but is not required.

Qualifications

• Active military, law enforcement, or security background is meaningful but not required.
• Strong communication, physical fitness, teamwork and integrity are essential.
• Willingness to learn and grow in a protective security role.

Responsibilities

• Monitor property and access control using the company tools and threat detection processes.
• Screen visitors and vendors; control all access to protected sites.
• Coordinate and execute security plans and respond to incidents, including medical emergencies.
• Provide physical protection and logistical support at client locations and during travel.
• Provide secure transportation as needed and ensure route readiness.
• Survey locations beforehand to anticipate potential threats and prepare accordingly.
• Prepare detailed documentation of suspicious activity for post-event analysis.
• Create and maintain readiness to meet any threat.
