Job summary

San Francisco's Juvenile Probation Department (JPD) seeks an Assistant Chief Probation Officer to carry momentum forward. This executive role oversees Probation Services and the Juvenile Justice Center, guiding a team of about 140 employees and shaping operational and programmatic strategy in a rehabilitation‑focused system.

The ideal candidate balances vision and execution, upholds accountability and equity, and represents JPD with courts, public agencies, staff, youth and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social science, administration of justice, business or public administration, or related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible experience in probation, youth services, or delinquency prevention.
• Four years of management and supervision experience.
• Ability to meet California BSCC Standards and Training for Corrections requirements.
• Valid California Class C driver's license, or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Oversee core operations across Probation Services and the Juvenile Justice Center.
• Lead a team of approximately 140 employees and set strategy.
• Ensure compliance with applicable mandates and standards.
• Represent the department with courts, public agencies, labor and community partners.
• Translate policy into sound, sustainable practice and develop leadership pathways.
