Hilton Head Island Community Church (HHICC) seeks an experienced Executive Pastor to join the ministry team on Hilton Head Island, SC. This senior leader works with the Lead Pastor to execute HHICC’s vision through strong operations, healthy staff leadership, and pastoral care.

This is a complementary role for a mature ministry leader who strengthens the work of others. The Executive Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor and oversees Creative Director, admin and remote staff, and facility personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with foundational Bible, theological, and doctrinal content.
• Ten+ years of senior church leadership experience seen as preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to preach/teach occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily church operations, vendor coordination, policies, and staff healthcare.
• Lead budget preparation with Stewardship Team and oversee financial processes.
• Manage campus maintenance and facility systems across three buildings.
• Lead Staff Ministry Team, HR functions, onboarding/offboarding, and staff meetings.
• Provide pastoral care, hospital visits, counseling, benevolence, and care mentoring.

Job description

Hilton Head Island Community Church (HHICC) is a growing, debt-free, non-denominational congregation located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Founded in 2007 and independently established in 2011, HHICC is a community-oriented church with a five-acre campus, a staff of five, and an annual budget of $1.1 million. The church’s mission is to passionately share the Message of Jesus Christ and lead people to follow Him. HHICC is now seeking an experienced Executive Pastor to join the ministry team.

About the Role

The Executive Pastor serves as a senior organizational and pastoral leader, working alongside the Lead Pastor to implement HHICC’s vision through strong operations, healthy staff leadership, and genuine pastoral care. This is not a succession role; it is a complementary position designed for a mature ministry leader who finds fulfillment in supporting and strengthening the work of others.

The Executive Pastor reports directly to the Lead Pastor and carries initial direct oversight of the Creative Director (outside of Sunday worship planning), all administrative and remote support staff, and facility and maintenance personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Church Operational Leadership: The Executive Pastor oversees daily church operations, manages the Subsplash church database, coordinates all vendors, and maintains church policies, procedures, and organizational insurance, including staff healthcare.
• Financial Management: The role leads annual budget preparation in coordination with the Stewardship Team, provides accountability for weekly financial processes, and supports oversight of major ministry and facility expenditures.
• Facility Management: The Executive Pastor oversees all campus maintenance, coordinates volunteers and vendors for projects, and manages equipment and systems across the church’s three-building campus.
• Staff Leadership: The Executive Pastor works with the Lead Pastor to lead the Staff Ministry Team, manages all HR and personnel functions including onboarding and offboarding, leads staff meetings as requested, and serves on the new Leadership Team.
• Pastoral Support: The Executive Pastor provides pastoral care including hospital visits and life-transition support, offers pastoral counseling and benevolence assistance during Community Center hours, supports membership development, the connection process, groups, and Care Mentor recruiting and training, and serves as a Sunday communicator once per quarter at the Lead Pastor’s request.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds at minimum a bachelor’s degree with foundational Bible, theological, and doctrinal content. Preferred experience is ten or more years of senior church leadership, with a proven background in budget management, facility operations, staff development, and pastoral ministry, including leading and equipping the church in evangelism. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, technological proficiency with church management systems, and an ability to preach and teach occasionally are expected.
