Working Title: EXECUTIVE NURSING DIRECTOR - SES - 50556009

Annual Salary Range: $85,374.64

Excellent retirement package and optional deferred compensation plan. Health, vision, dental, disability, and other supplemental insurance are available at reasonable premium rates. Paid vacation and sick leave. Nine (9) paid holidays andone (1) personal day. Tuition waiver available for State Universities and Community Colleges (up to six (6) credits per semester).

The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.

  • From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000.00 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
  • Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.
  • Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current State of Florida Department of Veterans Affairs employee.
  • Must have valid licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must have a current CPR/BLS certification and willingness to apply lifesaving skills when necessary.
  • Must be willing and able to work after hours and/or on weekends, for planned or emergency situations.
  • Must have two (2) years supervisory experience in a long-term care facility or skilled nursing facility.
  • Successful completion of the employment screening process to include, but notlimited to, a national background investigation and drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Four (4) or more years’ experience working as a professional registered nurse.
  • Two (2) years or more experience as Assistant Director or Director of Nursing.
  • Knowledge and experience with state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and employ excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and prioritize.
  • Above-average computer skills to include MicrosoftOffice Suite.
  • Experience administering medication.
  • Ability to create and update Electronic Medical Records.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the developing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluatingall aspects of Nursing Services in accordance with accepted nursing practices and procedures. Provide quality professional care to veteran residents to ensure their health, safety and security in accordance with State/Federal regulatory guidelines.

  • Develop, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate all aspects of Nursing Services in accordance with accepted nursing practices and procedures, to attain, maintain and promote quality resident care, and remain in compliance with all Federal, State, VA and FDVA Policies and Standards of Procedures.
  • Coordinate and monitor work assignments of Nursing Services personnel.
  • Determine appropriate Nursing Service staffing needs; develop a master staffing plan to ensure that all residents receive appropriate nursing care for a 24-hour time period adhering to all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Supervise subordinate personnel in their job functions to include leave and attendance, preparation and presentation of performance reviews and standards in accordance with position, class code and title.
  • Ensure the Nursing Services Department adheres to all current regulatory requirements governing all applied licenses.
  • Serve on the Pre-Admission Screening Team to insure appropriate admission process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including serving as a member of or chairing Committees;investigate and validate complaints related to assigned duties and responsibilities;maintaincurrent certification in Basic Life Support and apply this skill when necessary.

This position is in the Selected Exempt Service system.
